Camping and Fishing

Ashland welcomes anglers from around the country for its world-class fishing.  If you’d like to come camp around Ashland there are many opportunities from along the Rogue River to the Sky Lakes Wilderness and Mountain Lakes, the Pacific Crest Trail, Mt. Ashland and campgrounds provided.  Read on for more details on camping and fishing or click the links above.

The Mountain Lakes provide boating, swimming fishing, camping, equestrian camps and many access points and day use areas.  They include Hyatt Lake Resort and Recreation Area, Howard Prairie Resort, Lily Glen Campground, Emigrant Lake, Lake of the Woods, Fish Lake, Fourmile Lake and Willow Lake.

People travel from around the country to fish and fly fish on the Rogue River.  Request an Ashland Map Guide for all the fishing holes along the Rogue River.  Or go with a Guide.  A fishing license is required.  Fishing licenses can be purchased at Ashland Fly Shop in downtown Ashland, at BiMart in the Tolman Creek Plaza or go online to  www.dfw.state.or.us.

In the spring, Salmon run in May and June.  Fall is the primary time for fishing with Chinook Salmon running in August and September and Coho Salmon in late October. Fall steelhead run September through the winter.

Mt. Ashland Campground – open June through October, this no fee campground has bathrooms and sits on the southern side of Mt. Ashland summit in the Klamath National Forest. Access by following through the back parking lot of Mt. Ashland onto Forest Road 20.  Day use area, bathrooms, picnic area and a few campsites are offered. Please pack out all trash and bring water, no water source.
